The trip after the wedding

How it works

Four answers in, a whole weekend out.

You answer four questions. We build the shape of the weekend and fill it in from our own catalog of real places. Then you go and book it.

What we ask, and why

What shape is the group? This is the first question because it changes what “where to stay” even means. Six couples who each want their own door need a hotel with enough rooms. Twelve friends who want one long table need a house. Those are different searches, and a planner that averages them serves neither.

How many people, and how many nights. Headcount is what we filter stays on — a place that sleeps ten is not a place for fourteen, and we would rather say so than let you find out at check-in. Nights set the length of the day arc.

Where the venues come from

212 places, from a catalog we maintain ourselves. Every stay, restaurant and activity in a plan is a row in it — nothing is generated on the fly, and nothing is invented to fill a gap. If we don’t have a price, you get no price rather than a guess. If we don’t have a single stay that sleeps your whole group in a city, the plan says that in as many words.

Prices are ranges from that catalog, not live availability. They move with the season and the day of the week, which is why they are ranges.

What we don't do

We don’t book anything, we don’t hold anything, and nothing on a plan is reserved. There are no accounts and no saved trips — a plan lives in its own URL, so sending that link to the group is the whole sharing mechanism.

What you can do with the plan

A finished weekend isn’t a dead end. Two things sit on top of it.

Change the weekend.Say what’s different in a sentence — “make it four nights”, “we’re twelve now”, “somewhere warmer” — and the whole plan is rebuilt around it. It only ever changes four things: where you’re going, how many of you, how many nights, and whether you’re couples or one crew. Everything else is worked out the same way it was the first time, so a changed plan is as real as the original — and it gets its own link.

Ask about it.Questions about your weekend, answered from your weekend — what the house sleeps, why that restaurant, how far the airport is. It reads the plan in front of you and nothing else, so it will tell you when your plan doesn’t say.

How we make money

On this site, right now: we don’t. Friendsmoon is free, takes no commission, and has no affiliate links in a plan. When you book a house or a table, you pay the venue directly and we see none of it.

If that changes, this paragraph changes with it, in the same commit.

What this isn't

Friendsmoon plans the trip you take with your friends in the days right after the wedding, when the people who flew in for you are still around.

Take it instead of the honeymoon, or before it — plenty of couples do both. It isn’t the party before the wedding either; different crowd, different week, different behaviour.

Nobody wants to go home yet.

Four questions is about two minutes. You’ll get the whole weekend and the links to go arrange it.
